Treatments: ICSI
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is an IVF procedure in
which a sperm is “injected” into an egg with a special
microinjector. Eggs are obtained from an intravaginal puncture
of the ovaries as is made in a standard IVF treatment. With this
procedure we can obtain pregnancies in couples with very low
sperm count in the semen or even in the total absence of sperms
on the ejaculate (azoospemia). Obtaining in the last case sperms
directly from the testes or the epididymis. Indications for this
treatment are:1. Severe Male factor: very low sperm count
2. Obstructive Azoospermia
3. Fertilization failure in a previous IVF
4. Fertilization after obtaining sperms from epididymis or
testes
